| Local Area Info |
Since the Victorian times Brentwood and
the surrounding district has become a popular and prosperous
residential area, with attractive houses and flats. The well
wooded countryside which sweeps down towards the Thames estuary
is surrounded by appealing little villages and abundantly gifted
with parks, commons and other open spaces.
Having a good communication with London
along with the existence of several first-class schools and
excellent sporting facilities have added to it’s popularity,
attracting many people to the area.
Brentwood’s population has increased rapidly over the
past years but the district still manages to retain a pleasant
leafy rural appearance. The main shopping area is Brentwood
Town Centre, with many shops including Marks and Spencer, Boots,
Sainsbury and Somerfield. Shenfield and Ingatestone are smaller,
but nevertheless important shopping centres serving local needs
and there are a number of smaller shopping parades and village
centres around the Borough. Although these are still not to
the scale of nearby shopping centers such as Romford, Chelmsford,
Basildon and Thurrock’s Lakeside.
With motorway connections such as the M25, A12 and the A127
the whole area is easily accessible to major employment, including
main offices for Fords, BT and Amstrad. |
